🛑 Stop paying the "Rookie Tax" (Before your exit fund hits zero)

Hey Reader,

I'm so glad you're here. Whether you've been with me for years or you just joined this morning, pull up a chair. We're in the middle of a serious chat about the 4 Seasons of the First Year Solo.

Wait, did you miss Season 1? 🧘🏾‍♀️ We kicked things off last week with The Detox—why you might hit the couch with a pint of Ben & Jerry's before you hit the ground running. You aren't lazy; you're healing.

When you're sitting in another meeting that could have been an email 🙄, it's easy to daydream about the day you finally quit. You imagine hitting the ground running and finally being the "CEO".

But once the "vacation" feeling of quitting wears off, you hit Season 2: The Overwhelm.

In the corporate world, you were the self-assured expert. In Season 2, you are the IT department, the marketing intern, and the janitor. You're building the airplane while learning how to fly it—but you are also the one paying for the parts.

Why This Matters To Your Dreams Of Being Your Own Boss

In this season, you basically have a target on your back. I find that high-achieving women often feel that if they don't buy every tool, course, or "mastermind" touted on social media, they are already behind.

I'll be honest with you: My own Google Drive is an "elephant graveyard" of emotional spending decisions—programs collecting digital dust because they weren't the right fit for my stage.

It starts small. A $49 subscription here. A "must-have" $997 course there. By the time you blink, $5,000 of your Breathing Room—money that was supposed to fund your freedom—is gone.

This is what I call the "Rookie Tax." It’s not due to irresponsibility; it's the cost of trying to plan for a journey you’ve never taken.

You are a master of your corporate craft, but you are navigating a "first-year" terrain without a solo-specific manual.

It’s like using a Disney Map to navigate the Amazon. You won't just get financially lost; you’ll get financially hurt.

💡 Next Step To Getting Closer To Your Dreams

Before you hand in your notice, I invite you to take 10 minutes to stop the bleed:

Categorize the Spend: For every tool you think you "need," ask:

  • Can this be Free? (Do you really need a paid scheduler before you have your first three clients?)
  • Is there a Middle Ground? (Can the basic version keep the lights on for now?)
  • Is this a "Mini Luxury"? (Does this truly protect your sanity, or just your ego?)

You Don’t Have To Figure This Out On Your Own

The key to avoiding the "Rookie Tax" is having a Financial Exit Plan before you swipe your card for that first business expense. This ensures every dollar is spent strategically, saving you time, money, and your sanity.

In our 1:1 Strategy Session, we move from "Can I afford this?" to "I got this!":

  • We clarify a business model that supports, rather than strangles, the life you actually want.+1
  • We build a budget for the Gap Life—that messy season between paychecks—accounting for the hidden costs gurus forget.+1
  • You leave with a Financial Exit Action Plan so you can stop guessing and start making informed, strategic decisions.

Quote of the Week

The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.

Walt Disney

The hardest part for me as a business owner is accepting that my first attempt will be messy and feel sucky. But I'll get over it and so will you. I believe in you.

The Confident Quitter's Manifesto

We can be our own worst enemy when we let fear and the noise of others win.

This Manifesto is the truth you speak back to yourself and to the people who tell you to play small.

Read this, own this, and let this be the truth that guides your steps:

The Confident Quitter isn't just a quitter—she's a builder of her own destiny.

She knows that to step fully into her God-given purpose and build the life she truly desires, she must boldly release what no longer serves her.

That means letting go of the soul-sucking job, the limiting beliefs whispering "it's too late," and the lie that she has to stay small.

This isn't defeat; this is a defiant declaration of faith.

With every step, she courageously claims who God is calling her to be—a woman who owns her life, her legacy, and her livelihood.

She is ready. She is capable. She is confident. She Is You.

Take care,
