👉🏿[Reality Check] The "December Lie" in your budget

Hey Reader,

It is the "Most Wonderful Time Of The Year." The world slows down, the Amazon boxes pile up, and you are likely plotting to make 2026 THE year you finally hand in that resignation letter.

But before you draft that email to your boss, pull up a chair. We need to have a chat about the lie you might be telling your spreadsheet.

I have reviewed thousands of exit plans, and the #1 mistake I see high-achievers make is "Idealistic Budgeting."

This is the tendency to plan your exit based on the "Best Version" of yourself—the version who never gets stressed, never orders takeout, lives like a monk, and never has a tire blowout.

Why This Matters To Your Dreams Of Being Your Own Boss

Trust me, I wish I could tell you that as a financial planner, I have the discipline of a Tibetan monk. But I don't.

My life doesn't operate on willpower; it operates on reality. My car will need repairs. My kids will have an 11th-hour request for money. And let's be honest—in December, no amount of budgeting will convince me to get near a stove. We are ordering out.

That is my reality. And if I build a financial bridge based on a fantasy version of Tania, that bridge will collapse under the weight of the real Tania.

This is the "Seasonality Trap."

If you calculate your runway based on a "quiet month" (like February, where you only spent $4,000), you are going to get blindsided by the "loud months" (like December or July), where you spend $8,000.

The Danger: If you plan for the lows, you will run out of cash during the highs. That isn't just a budgeting error; that is a preventable financial disaster waiting to happen.

💡 One Step To Get Closer To Your Dreams

We are going to replace "Hope Math" with "Reality Math."

I'm not going to sugarcoat it. This is going to suck. Facing the hard truth about your spending patterns is uncomfortable.

But you know what is worse? Staying in the "Soul Sucking Grey Of Just Being OK " with your job & life instead of pursuing your dream because you were too afraid to look at your bank statement.

Pick your hard.

If the pain of staying in your job is worse than reviewing your spending, here is your step. We aren't categorizing every latte (I promise). We are finding your "Real Life Average."

The Action: Calculate your Total Average Monthly Spending

  1. Log In: Open your primary checking account or budgeting app.
  2. The Total: Filter for "Total Withdrawals" (money out) for the last 12 months (2025). Do not exclude the holidays. Do not exclude the emergencies. Include it all.
  3. The Math: Take that big, scary total number and divide by 12.

That number? That is your Reality Number. It captures the ebbs, the flows, the Christmas gifts, and the stress-eating takeout.

⚠️ The "Bonus" Trap: Check your patterns. Did you rack up credit card debt and pay it off with your annual bonus? If so, your bonus is acting as a "financial band-aid" masking your spending habits. When you go solo, the bonus disappears. Be honest about this now so we can fix it.

💡 Stop the Spin. Now That You Have A Number, You Need A Strategy To Fund It.

You don't have to figure out how to bridge that gap alone. In a Confident Quitter's Power Hour, we turn that panic into a plan:

  • Clear The Clutter: We stop the "what ifs" and focus on the specific financial gap you need to close right now.
  • The Financial Snapshot: We take that "Reality Number" and stress-test it against your savings and projected business income.
  • Your 30-Day Exit Action Plan: You leave with a custom roadmap to build your runway, so you can sleep at night knowing your exit is secure.

Let's turn your "I hope I have enough" into "I have the math to prove it."

Encouraging Thought.. Because We All Need A Little Uplifting

  • "The secret of getting ahead is getting started." – Mark Twain.

I know doing this feels like tasting yucky medicine, but think of it this way. The medicine is yucky, but the sweetness of living life on your own terms is worth it.

You're calling, and the people you are meant to serve are on the other side of this.

The Confident Quitter's Manifesto

We can be our own worst enemy when we let fear and the noise of others win. This Manifesto is the truth you speak back to yourself and to the people who tell you to play small. Read this, own this, and let this be the truth that guides your steps:

The Confident Quitter isn't just a quitter—she's a builder of her own destiny.

She knows that to step fully into her God-given purpose and build the life she truly desires, she must boldly release what no longer serves her. That means letting go of the soul-sucking job, the limiting beliefs whispering "it's too late," and the lie that she has to stay small.

This isn't defeat; this is a defiant declaration of faith.

With every step, she courageously claims who God is calling her to be—a woman who owns her life, her legacy, and her livelihood.

She is ready. She is capable. She is confident.

Take care,
